Mouth: chews and mixes food with saliva
Pharynx: Directs food from mouth to esophagus
Salivary glands: secrete saliva (containing starch-digesting enzymes)
Epiglottis: protects airway during swallowing
Trachea: allows air to pass to and from lungs
Esophagus: passes food from mouth to the stomach
Esophageal sphincters: allow passage from mouth to esophagus and from esophagus to stomach
Stomach: adds acids, enzymes, and fluids; churns, mixes, and grinds foods to a liquid mass
Pyloric sphincter: allows passage from stomach to small intestine
Liver: manufactures bile salts, detergent-like substances to help digest fats
Gallbladder: stores bile until needed
Bile duct: conducts bile from the gallbladder to the small intestine
Appendix: stores lymph cells
Small intestine: secretes enzymes that digest all energy-yielding nutrients to smaller nutrient particles
Ileocecal valve (sphincter): allows passage from small to large intestine
Pancreas: manufactures enzymes to digest all energy-yielding nutrients and releases bicarbonate to neutralize acid chyme that enters the small intestine
Pancreatic duct: conducts pancreatic juice from the pancreas to the small intestine
Large intestine (colon): reabsorbs water and minerals; passes waste along with water to the rectum
Rectum: stores waste prior to elimination
Anus: holds rectum closed

Can you believe all of that is in your body doing its job right now to help you poop in a few? Yeah gross, but amazing!

I am so happy right now! Just got out of a biology test. It was only 33 questions and those tests usually have about 55. So that's a little scary. I know I did very well on the genetics part, but I'm not sure of the cell division shit. I've declared my major as Nutrition, but I still need to make sure that's really what I want before I sign up for classes because the classes for that major are so different than most majors. I'm gonna talk to my teacher about it tomorrow. I'll have to take 2 chemistries, which sounds really hard. The schedule my advisor and I talked about would give me 14 hours next semester. I am also thinking about taking summer school, but that's a big commitment because it's Monday through Friday for 3 weeks, which doesn't sound like much, but its already hard for me to go to school for 4 days a week now.

I saw the fucking FLAMING LIPS on Saturday night!!! I've wanted to see them live for years. They were amazing, of course. That's what I expected. It was raining, but nobody cared. Well, some people did, but nobody I was with. Wayne got in the bubble! I was not expecting that. There were canons of confetti, tons of smoke (from the stage&all da weed!), and lots of balloons! There were teletubbies on stage dancing. One proposed to the other on stage as well, which was strangely sweet. Danny and I got to the Vanderbuilt campus at about 5 and were drunkenly walking around trying to find out where Rites of Spring was until about 7. We had no idea where we parked the car either because once we finally parked, we were too excited to think about locating it later, but our early morning parking garage hunt was much shorter than I thought it would be. I'm so happy Danny&I went. :] We met Caitlin, Corey, Clevey, Evan, and Jackie (not donut country Jackie) there. N.E.R.D. played. Ha! I saw Pharrell f'rill. They were pretty fun, too.

I'll tell more later. Danny's coming to meet me in the library.
